New Mountain Homes
Author Archives: Erin Hershey
Construction Update & Photo of the Week
At South Peak Resort we truly enjoy watching as our homeowners’ homes emerge from an excavated site and blossom into a beautiful, custom-built residence! The warmer spring temperatures have surely been welcomed by homesite 32’s builder, The Lawton Company, as they have worked tirelessly throughout the course of a cold winter. Here’s a picture from our last construction update as well as one taken the other day!
Speaking of blossoming, the spring flowers are emerging similarly here in Lincoln, and boy are they pretty!

Different Strokes for Different Folks!
The White Mountains region of New Hampshire has quite a lot to offer as far as activities go, so much so that it’s surprisingly hard to fit it all into one summer of fun! Luckily for all of you though, there are a few activities you can participate in before summer officially begins so that you can get a jump start! Two Lincoln-area businesses provide kayaking and canoe rentals and tours, with packages ranging from leisurely paddles down the river, to more difficult, Class III rapids. Both offer rental and bring-your-own-boat pricing.

Murder Mystery Weekend Wrap Up
Mystery. Deception. Murder! Thank you to all that came to participate in and support the Lincoln-Woodstock Chamber of Commerce’s Murder Mystery Weekend, “In Cold Mud”! Approximately one-hundred sleuths from near and far banded together again this year to solve the heinous murder of Dietrich “Dutch” Schultz, who was found dead and covered in mud at Alpine Adventures in Lincoln. Was it Dutch’s sweet, demure widow Connie Schultz? Was it the nature-loving bird watcher Robin Nestor? Was it the bird-watcher’s nemesis, Lawson DeWoods the hunter? Could it have been Fannie Oatley, the new gold prospector in town, or the magnanimous gold-buyer Colonel Barry Cash?

Loon is Still Open!
The mountain is hopping this week as Loon accommodates large groups from other area mountains that unfortunately closed early due to un-seasonally warm weather two weeks ago. With some surprise snow-dusting and TLC from Mother Nature and magic performed by Loon Mountain’s tireless snowmaking staff last week, Loon currently has 26 trails, 181 acres, and 12.5 miles of skiing open for the time being. Incredible! Many thanks go out to Loon Mountain for prolonging the 2011-12 ski season as much as they can.
This weekend looks to be a really fun family weekend (see Springtime Fun! post from earlier this week), and we have gone ahead and discovered some other activities you may enjoy as well.
Springtime Fun
This week features some great family events as the 2011-2012 ski-and-ride season draws to a close. However short, the season was packed with great energy, fun events, and exceptional conditions at Loon Mountain Resort.

Eighties Day & Area Updates
Mother Nature teased us a bit last week with our 75 to 80 degree weather, and it seems that Spring is giving in to another bout of chilly weather before it settles into its normal range from the mid-50’s and lower 60’s.
During that bout of summer-like weather, however, we couldn’t help but wonder if Udderly Delicious – one of Lincoln’s ice cream hotspots – would open to the public, offering at least a cone or two. Well, that early bird dream is about to come true, with Udderly Delicious opening Friday, April 6th! Other than being closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you can enjoy early summer fun from 12pm-8pm any other day of the week!
Local Spotlight: The Vineyard at Seven Birches
oenology –n. [ee-nol-uh-jee]: the study of wine.
In the wake of our Maple Sugaring post last week, I’d like to introduce you to another delightful local aspect of this season.
Many of you may know Mark LaClair as the Executive Director of the Lincoln-Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, but locals here know him by another title:
Mark LaClair, Vintner.
While maple sap boils and bubbles down into sweet syrup at farms nearby, LaClair is preparing to unveil the latest treats from his winery – The Vineyard at Seven Birches.

NCCA Looking Forward to 2012

Local supporters had the opportunity to sign the beams that would form the internal structure of Jean's Playhouse.
One year ago the Papermill Theatre held a wonderful ceremony, “Raise the Roof!”. As we watched from below, a steel beam was lifted by crane up into its final resting place as part of Jean’s Playhouse infrastructure, the Papermill’s new home, adorned by dozens and dozens of signatures of local supporters.
